2. Learn to ClimbLearn to ClimbDescriptionLearn to climbOur Learn to Climb course is for beginners. In consecutive weeks, you’ll complete four 90-minute sessions to take you through basic climbing techniques and the necessary ropework. Participants will learn how to tie-in to climb using a Figure 8 knot and how to set up and belay with a universal friction belay device. We will also teach how to buddy-check your climber and belayer and how to communicate clearly and precisely during climbs. This course is perfect for boulderers looking to begin climbing independently on top-rope, individuals looking to rope climb indoors and who want to get started quickly, or for parents who would like to belay their children safely.
3. Experienced Roped ClimbersExperienced ClimberDescription
EXPERIENCED CLIMBER Belay tests If you are an experienced climber and have belayed before, you must complete a Belay test and registration before using the climbing wall. The tests are 15 minutes, and you will need to demonstrate that you can put on a climbing harness correctly, tie into a rope with an acceptable knot, and then belay someone safely up and down the wall, including arresting a fall. It is preferable if you can bring a partner (who need not have any climbing experience) who will do a short, easy climb while we observe you belaying them.
Once you’ve passed the belay test, you can use the climbing wall unsupervised. Belay refresher session Book a 30-minute refresher session if you have belayed before but would like to refresh your memory before committing to the test. You will need to bring a partner (who does not have any climbing experience) to enable you to practice these skills.
Please note sometimes individuals require more than one refresher, depending on knowledge retention.
