Get Out, Get Active Walking Trip Robing Hoods Bay to Whitby, Yorkshire Coast

Join Get Out, Get Active on a spectacular coastal walk starting from the world-renowned and picturesque Robin Hood’s Bay and finishing in the charming seaside town of Whitby which was immortalised in the gothic horror novel Dracula.

Saturday 21st Februrary 08:00am - 18:30pm 

Course Description

The long walk will start from Robin Hood’s Bay and will be roughly 10km, while the short walk will start a little closer to Whitby and will be about 7km, both walks will be along the beautiful Yorkshire coast.  We will pause regularly to appreciate the views along the route.  

We will finish the trip off with some time in Whitby where if you wish you can purchase traditional fish and chips so we suggest bringing some spending money for a tasty meal, snack or hot drink before departing back for Leeds. Alternatively you may want to bring a packed lunch and drink of your own. We would like to emphasise the need for good outdoor walking shoes or boots, a waterproof jacket, a drink's bottle plus an optional packed lunch. 

Transport:

We will travel via coach departing from Parkinson steps at 08:00 and returning at 18:30. This is included in the ticket cost.

What you need to bring:

Please come in suitable footwear for uneven and unpaved terrain (walking boots or strong trainers). You will also need:

• Spare footwear to change into after the walk and a bag for your muddy boots or shoes
• Waterproof jacket and warm clothes
• Food/Packed Lunch and a water bottle for during the walk
• Money/Card if you wish to purchase items in the town

We have a limited amount of kire for hire which includes walking boots and waterproof jackets. The hire form will be released on the week of the walk.

You will receive an email from GetOutGetActive@leeds.ac.uk on the week on the trip, this will include further information such as meeting time, activator contact details, route information, the kit hire form and the health check form - which you must complete by 4pm on the day before your trip.
