 Explore Knaresborough, a hidden gem in North Yorkshire. A warren of medieval streets, rich history and stone staircases that weave their way up and down the hill providing panoramic views over the River Nidd

Course Description

With its dramatic position perched on the top of the picturesque cliffs overlooking the River Nidd and the majestic Victorian viaduct spanning the gorge, Knaresborough rewards those who are curious and keen to explore. 

There will be two walking route options- a shorter route for people who wish to spend more time exploring Knaresborough and a longer walk for those wishing to explore further. The routes will take you on the paths along the riverbank.  

There will be some free time to explore the town of Knaresborough after the walk. Please note that the length of time to explore Knaresborough will depend on which route option you pick. 

Transport:

We will travel via coach departing from Parkinson steps at 09:00 and returning at 17:00. This is included in the ticket cost.

What you need to bring:

Please come in suitable footwear for uneven and unpaved terrain (walking boots or strong trainers). You will also need:

• Spare footwear to change into after the walk and a bag for your muddy boots or shoes
• Waterproof jacket and warm clothes
• Food/Packed Lunch and a water bottle for during the walk
• Money/Card if you wish to purchase items in the town

We have a limited amount of kit for hire which includes walking boots and waterproof jackets. The hire form will be released on the week of the walk.

You will receive an email from GetOutGetActive@leeds.ac.uk on the week on the trip, this will include further information such as meeting time, activator contact details, route information, the kit hire form and the health check form - which you must complete by 4pm on the day before your trip.
