Detailed Description
Details: This is a staff and student social event and has been held for 33 years, historically involving 60-120 competitors, in teams of 4, who compete to find orienteering kites hidden around the moor from 6-9pm in the dark. The weather is pretty bleak in the Yorkshire dales in November and conditions can be nasty (windy, wet, cold, very slippery, very muddy). Also the terrain is very harsh in places with cliffs, streams and bogs; this terrain is even more dangerous at night. However, if you are up to the challenge, and work well in a team, it is a great adventure for all, with prizes awarded in a warm pub afterwards from 9-11pm. Please note that substance abuse is extremely dangerous in a moorland environment and will not be tolerated.
