Active Campus Sports Sessions

Active Campus terms and conditions:

  • If after payment a participant cannot attend for any reason, including illness or injury, the participant will only be entitled to a refund if 24 hours or more notice is given via email (activecampus@leeds.ac.uk). In the event of less than 24 hours’ notice given, a refund will not be provided. This condition may be subject to change.
  • Active Campus sessions operate with a minimum requirement of 3 or more participants per session. If there are less than 3 participants booked, we reserve the right to cancel the session. A refund will be processed in these circumstances. This condition may be subject to change.
  • In the event of unforeseen circumstances e.g. instructor illness or facility related issues, we reserve the right to make amendments to the session (e.g. substitute the instructor, change the location) or cancel the session. If a cancellation occurs, a full refund will be issued.
  • Please note that any inappropriate behaviour or failure to follow instructions provided by the activity instructor will not be tolerated and will result in appropriate action.

Active Campus Badminton

Description

 Badminton 

Our badminton sessions are a great way to take an active break on campus and meet other people. The badminton sessions are inclusive of all abilities whether you have played before or not. All University of Leeds staff and students are welcome to join these sessions. The sessions will be led by one of our activators, and will involve drills, games and singles and doubles matchplay for all levels.  

Wednesday 12-12:45pm @ The Gryphon Sport center
Thursday 1-1:45pm @ The Gryphon Sport center 

Please speak to reception on arrival who will direct you if you are unsure where to go. 

You don’t need any special kit, and all equipment will be provided (but feel free to bring your own racquet if you have one). Wear trainers and comfortable clothing.  We also recommend bringing some water. Showers and lockers are available on site.

Active Campus Staff and Student Bouldering

Description

Join our coach-led bouldering sessions designed for all skill levels, experiences and abilities. Whether starting out or looking to improve specific techniques, these sessions offer support and guidance. It's a great way to meet fellow climbers and be part of the climbing community at The Edge! 

This session will show you the basics of bouldering, which is climbing a short height with crash mats underneath. You will also learn about climbing movement skills, helping you complete some of our graded climbing routes with style. Climbing is a fantastic full-body workout, so be prepared to challenge yourself physically and mentally!

Thursdays 12:15-13:15 pm @ The Edge Climbing Wall

You don’t need any special kit – just wear trainers and something you’re comfortable in. Please tie up long hair and remove jewellery for the session. We recommend bringing some water. There are water fountains available at The Edge. Showers and lockers are also available.

Pickleball

Description

Pickleball

Pickleball is a sport that combines the fun of tennis, badminton and table tenis, making it a unique and engaging game for all experience levels. The sport is played with paddles on a Badminton-sized court but with a low net, and is often played as doubles with two players on each team.

Tuesday 5pm-5:55pm @ The Gryphon Sport Center 

Please speak to reception on arrival who will direct you if you are unsure where to go. 

You don’t need any special kit or equipment - this is all provided. Just wear trainers and something you’re comfortable in. We recommend bringing some water, there are water fountains avalible on site.
