More InformationThis workshop will provide attendees with a clear understanding of how to design and conduct a complex intervention evaluation and will include: • What makes an intervention complex? • An overview of existing frameworks • The role of pilot and feasibility studies • Trial design for complex intervention evaluation • Intervention implementation and the role of a process evaluation • Practical considerations in the set-up and delivery of complex intervention trials Structure: Teaching will be delivered live online. There will be a strong emphasis on practical exercises where participants will gain hands-on experience in the design and conduct of complex intervention evaluations, using a variety of real-life examples from our own experience. Course requirements: Clinicians, Health Professionals, Researchers and NIHR Academy Members / Fellows interested in planning, leading, or being involved in the design and conduct of evaluations of complex interventions would benefit from this masterclass. Attendees should already have good working knowledge of clinical trials and be keen to understand the challenges which are specific to evaluating complex interventions. The masterclass is not suitable for those seeking an introduction to clinical trial design. Feedback from previous attendees: · I learned a lot and had the headspace to think through my own studies and what I might not yet have considered. Supportive and knowledgeable session leads and supports. · I learnt so much about complex interventions, and you can tell how knowledgeable all of the teachers were. · This was an excellent course. I felt the presenters really knew their topics in great detail and explained it well. · Lots of learning and confidence grown to improve my own work.
The course will be delivered by members of the Complex Intervention Division at the Clinical Trials Research Unit at the University of Leeds and will be led by: Michelle Collinson, Alexandra Wright-Hughes, Florence Day and Bethan Copsey. Together they have a wealth of experience in the design, implementation and evaluation of complex health and social care interventions. |
