No previous experience is required, this is designed for beginners. Calisthenics is a form of strength training that utlises an individual's bodyweight as resistance to perform multi joint compound movements with little or no equipment. It relies on bodyweight for resistance which naturally adapts to an individual's unique physical attributes. This allows calisthenics exercsies to be personalised and accessible for various body structures and age ranges. Tuesdays 1:15-2pm at the studio in the Staff Wellbeing Hub. You don’t need any special kit – just wear trainers and something you’re comfortable in. We recommend bringing a bottle of water with you. Please note there will be no sesseions on the following dates:
Spin (staff only)Active Campus Staff SpinDescriptionStaff 30-minute spin Come and join this 35-minute spin class which is a great introduction to indoor cycling. All University of Leeds staff are welcome to join these sessions which will be led by Michelle and Patrick teaching alternate weeks.
Wednesdays 5:00-5:35pm in the spin studio at The Edge. Please speak to reception on arrival, who will direct you.
You don’t need to have tried spin before; the session caters for all experience and fitness levels. Michelle and Patrick will motivate you and help you find your spinning flow to classic tunes from the 80s, 90s and 00s. You’ll raise your heart rate and your endorphin levels!
You don’t need any special kit – just wear trainers and something you’re comfortable in. We recommend bringing a bottle of water and you might like to bring a towel. Showers and lockers are available at The Edge.
Please not a register will be given to session leaders 15min before th class time. If you book after this please bring proof of booking! Please also try to arrive 5 minutes before the start time so the teachers have time to familiarise you with the bike.
Les Mills PilatesActive Campus Les Mills Pilates for Strength, Mobility and HappinessDescriptionLes Mills Pilates Class Magical choreography, hypnotic music, and the latest exercise science. A 45-minute mind-body workout designed to improve strength, mobility and happiness. Traditional Pilates meets the Les Mills experience, leaving you feeling strong, uplifted, and calm. Fridays 6:15pm-7:00pm in The Edge, Room G24. Reception staff will direct you upon arrival. Please wear trainers and something you’re comfortable in. We recommend bringing a bottle of water and you might like to bring a towel.
Core Class (Staff only)Active Campus Staff Core ClassDescriptionCore Class (Staff Only) Build a stronger, more defined core with targeted exercises for your abs, back, stability and posture. This class may use weights and resistance bands to add intensity and to improve strength and fitness. Tuesdays 5:30-6:15pm* @G24, The Edge. If you are unsure where to go please ask The Edge reception team who will help you. *This is a 30min core with an additional warm up and cool down included to make it 45mins total. You don’t need any special kit – just wear trainers and something you’re comfortable in. We recommend bringing a bottle of water with you.
