Detailed Description

This route was once a railway line from London to Manchester. Now this historic trail runs from Buxton to Bakewell, crosses high above the River Wye via the Monsal Viaduct, and cuts through the Peak District hills through a series of well-lit walking tunnels.

We will depart by coach from the Parkinson Steps at 09:00 returning approximately at 17:00. We would like to emphasise the need for good outdoor walking shoes or strong trainers (you don’t mind getting muddy) plus a layer of waterproof clothing.

There will be two walking route options- a shorter route for people who wish to spend more time in Bakewell and a longer walk for those wishing to explore further.  Please note that the length of time to explore Bakewell will depend on which route option you pick.

The beautiful market town of Bakewell is the biggest town in the Peak District National Park and is well known for its unique and traditional puddings.
