Detailed Description

Charlotte Brontë, stayed in Hathersage in 1845 whilst writing Jane Eyre. Many of the novel’s locations such as the gothic manor house Thornfield Hall (North Lees Hall) can still be recognised today.

During the walk we will have two groups, a short one roughly 6km in length and the longer one roughly 10km. On the day you can choose which group you would like to walk with. There will be opportunities en route to take photographs and appreciate the views.

The walk will finish with some free time for you to explore the village of Hathersage before we return back to Leeds.

What you need to bring:
Please come in suitable footwear for uneven and unpaved terrain (walking boots or strong trainers). We also recommend you bring:

- Waterproof jacket and warm clothes

- Food and drink for during the walk

- Money to purchase items

You must be at least 17 years of age to attend this trip.

When booking a place for this event, the named participant is making a commitment to attend the event. If after payment a participant cannot attend for any reason, including illness, injury and emergencies, the participant will not be entitled to a refund. The event organiser will be as accommodating as possible if the participant cannot attend and will deal with cases on an individual basis up to one week before the event. We advise that in the event of the named candidate not being able to attend that they find a replacement to take their position on the course and notify the event organiser at least one week before the date of the event. No changes can be made within one week of the event.
