Introducing the multiphase optimisation strategy (MOST) and optimisation trials

This is a CPD course led by Prof Smith and Dr Walwyn introducing a new framework for clinical trials of complex interventions on the 7th to 9th of May 2024.

Detailed Description

The Leeds Unit for Complex Intervention Development (LUCID) at the University of Leeds are running a new CPD course. This in-person course will run from the 7th to 9th May at a cost of £750 per person (inclusive of tuition, lunch and refreshments). The course will be led by Professor Sam Smith and Dr Rebecca Walwyn, both experts in MOST and optimisation trials.

The course will introduce people to a new framework for optimising complex interventions to help them build more effective, affordable, scalable and efficient interventions. In a mixture of lectures, self-directed learning and group discussion, attendees will learn about the three phases of MOST and the efficient trial designs associated with the framework. We will discuss the challenges linked with designing such trials, and pragmatic solutions to address them. The course promises to provide an interesting insight into a novel approach to intervention development.

The course is suitable for individuals with an interest in intervention development, including postgraduate researchers through to senior academics, providing you have had basic training in statistics (e.g. linear regression) and have a basic knowledge of clinical trials and / or experiments.

The pre-course preparation is essential and will take 7-10 hours to complete and can be done remotely.
