goga walker

Join us on a walking trip at the famous Ilkley Moor which has so many attractions including the iconic Cow and Calf Rocks and fantastic views of the Yorkshire Dales.

Detailed Description

Famous for the Cow and Calf Rocks, Ilkley Moor also has bronze age rock art, stone circles, and serves up fantastic panoramic views of the Wharfedale Valley and Yorkshire Dales. Come and explore with a friendly guided walk followed by some free time in the delightful Ilkley town.

We will depart by coach from the Parkinson Steps at 10:00 returning at approximately 15:00. The cost of trip will be just £8.

Outdoor walking shoes or strong trainers plus an extra layer of waterproof clothing are advised. The walking will be at a gentle pace and we will be covering up to 6km in different paced groups over a 2.5-3 hour period stopping regularly to appreciate the views and points of interest.

There will be a longer walk of 10km (3hrs duration) for up to 10 people with our Mountain Leader Vicky - but please note this will be much longer than our main walk and you will need to satisfy safety kit requirements including strong shoes,  waterproof jacket and trousers. There will be a stop o this walk for lunch so please bring a packed lunch with you. If you are interested in joining this group please email Greg g.d.hull@leeds.ac.uk to reserve a place.

As time allows we will finish the trip off with a pub or cafe visit (usually up to an hour) for some traditional Yorkshire refreshments so we suggest some spending money for a snack or hot chocolate in Ilkley town where you can explore the cafes and shops before departing back for Leeds.

A final details email will be sent out on the Thursday before.
