The International Medieval Congress (IMC) takes place every year in the second week of July at the University of Leeds. Begun in 1994, the Congress in 2018 welcomed over 2,900 medievalists from all over the world, making it the largest conference of its kind in Europe. The main aim of the Congress is to provide an interdisciplinary forum for discussion of all aspects of the European Middle Ages (c. 300-1500). Each year's Congress has a special thematic strand that focuses on an area of interdisciplinary study in a wider context. However, this focus is not exclusive and alongside it the IMC provides a platform for debate in all spheres of medieval research.
