Detailed Description

What this award can be used for:

  • To gain employment as a strength and conditioning for sport coach
  • To complement your existing skill set in your fitness instructor or personal training role
  • To development of a credible CV for employment in the sport, recreation and allied occupations industry
  • As a progression towards the Level 3 Certificate in Coaching Strength and Conditioning for Sport
  • To gain exposure to the Strength and Conditioning Network
  • To act as REPs CPD points

What you will learn:

  • How to coach and design speed, movement and agility programmes for athletes of all sports.
  • How to plan a basic strength, hypertrophy and power programme for an athlete.
  • How to develop your coaching skills to be an effective practitioner.

Candidate Criteria
You must be 17 years or older with an interest in understanding the principles of coaching strength and conditioning.
Please note you do not require the level one qualification to take part in this course.

Pre-requisites:
Candidates must hold a valid First Aid certificate in order to pass this course. We also offer First Aid Qualifications which you can complete alongside your Strength and Conditioning Qualification.

Please Note

When booking a course, the named candidate is making a commitment to attend all the dates in that programme. If after payment a candidate cannot attend for any reason a full refund or course fee transfer can be completed if notified 1 month before the course start date. After this if a candidate cannot attend the booked course for any reason including illness, injury and emergencies, the candidate will not be entitled to a refund, unless a doctor’s note can be provided. The Coach Education Programme courses require a set number of candidates to ensure it is financially viable to run, and may be cancelled if this level is not met 2 weeks before the course start date. If in the event a course is cancelled the candidates will be placed on the next available course, subject to the availability of the candidate and space on the courses. If the candidate is unable to attend any other date they will be entitled to a full refund. Each candidate’s course fee is committed to hire of facilities, course tutors, course materials and administration cost, costs which are not recoupable from the suppliers. We advise that in the event of the named candidate not being able to attend that they find a replacement to take their position on the course and notify the SPA office 7 days before that course’s start date. 

Students are required to provide a permanent home address before the University of Leeds will send out certificates; term time address will not be accepted.

University of Leeds, Sport and Exercise Science students in levels 1 and 2 are entitled to a subsidy of 50% of the course price, up to a maximum of £100, from their school. 

Candidates must present their certificate and student card by 17:00 on Friday 16thJune 2017 to the Sports Development Office, Sport & Physical Activity, The Edge, University of Leeds in order to access the 50% refund.
